The First Disability Awareness Day in MUBS
MUBS Community held the Disability Awareness day on November 5, 2018. The event was organized by the MUBS Disability Resource and Learning Center (MUBS DRLC), held under the theme “A day in my shoes; celebrating diversity and awareness for persons with different abilities.”
PhD Research Seminars to be introduced
Prof. Waswa Balunywa on August 9, 2018 during his meeting with the PhD students at the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research at MUBS Bulogobi Annex revealed plans to introduce PhD Student Research Public Seminars. Here, the PhD students will be provided a platform to present their research concepts, an opportunity to learn, critique their peers and improve on articulation. The seminar will also aim at evaluating the PhD research’s relevance to society, contribution to the body of knowledge, procedures in the selection and evaluation of research projects, and techniques of data collection, handling, and analysis.
MUBS celebrated the 2018 International Day of the girl child
On October 12, 2018, MUBS through the Department of Finance in the Faculty of Commerce recognized and celebrated the 2018 International Day of the girl child under the theme “With her a skilled work force”. The department hosted girls from St. Theresa Buloba as part of building their confidence and aspiration for a better future.
Former Zanzibar President Visits MUBS
Former Zanzibar President, H.E. Dr. Amani Abeid Karume visited MUBS on April 13, 2018 ahead of the Global Peace Conference. During his visit MUBS was declared a peace hub for Universities in Africa. The declaration was made by the Vice President for Strategic Partnerships, Global Peace Foundation, Mr. David Caprara.
MUBS wins Silver in Disability Games
MUBS’ Joshua Byansi (Deaf) was second runner up in the 800m for men and won a Silver medal in the Javelin (Deaf) category while Namulondo Best Sharon with Physical Disability was second in the 800m for Ladies at the National Disability Games in Mbarara that took place at Kakyeka Stadium from September 26-30, 2018.
CECF President Visits MUBS; Signs MoU
On August 15, 2018, Makerere University Business School hosted renowned American Muslim speaker Imam Mohamad Bashar Arafat, President of the Islamic Affairs Council of Maryland and founder of the Civilizations Exchange and Cooperation Foundation (CECF). He was at MUBS to build the capacity of scholars and leaders in the areas of interfaith dialogue, peace building and development and technology transfer.
13th Entrepreneurship Conference
MUBS hosted young entrepreneurs from different universities in Uganda to discuss the role of incubators in developing entrepreneurship and creating new business start-ups that add value and impact to the society. The discussion was organized by the MUBS Entrepreneurship Innovation and Incubation Center (EIIC) as one of the events that kick started the MUBS 13th Annual Entrepreneurship Conference which was held from October 24-26, 2018 at Hotel Africana in Kampala.
I DARE Conference 2018
On March 22-23, 2018 the Faculty of Management and Public Policy in conjunction with COPMASTERS and the Human Resource Management Students’ Association, HURMASAMU organized a two day conference to address the students on how to live a responsible life at campus.
The first of its kind, the conference also intended to prepare the students for the world of work.
23rd Annual International Management Conference
The MUBS 23rd Annual International Management Conference was held in Mbarara from September 11- 14, 2018 under the theme “The Knowledge Society”. Gen. Kahinda Otafire opened the conference.
8th Annual International Leadership Conference
The MUBS 8th Annual International Leadership Conference was held on July 17-19, 2018 at Entebbe. The conference was organized under the theme, “African Business Leaders; creating the change Africa needs. It was opened by the Vice President of Uganda, H. E. Edward Ssekandi.
1st Finance Students’ Conference
The Finance Department, held the 2018 Annual Finance Students Conference at MUBS Nakawa Campus on September 27, 2018. Under the theme “Expanding Financial Sector Opportunities and Possibilities. The conference attracted a number of CEOs from the finance sector who shared their experiences with the students.
