The Entrepreneurial & Digital Skills for Employability of Young Women (EDEW) Graduation Ceremony was held at the National ICT Hub in Nakawa, celebrating the achievements of 120 young women from five leading Ugandan universities, Busitema University, Gulu University, Mbarara University of Science and Technology, Makerere University Business School (MUBS), and Muni University.
The graduation marked the culmination of an intensive three-month training designed to equip participants with vital skills in entrepreneurship, digital literacy, and employment readiness.

The program focused on empowering young women with practical knowledge and tools to help them start and grow businesses, become more competitive in the job market, and confidently navigate the digital economy.
During the ceremony, Prof. Muhwezi reminded the graduates of their important role in applying the knowledge gained to make a positive impact in their communities. Meanwhile, Dr. Fred Twesime, Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, assured the participants of continuous support through the Innovation Hub Uganda.
Highlighting innovation and entrepreneurship, 10 outstanding ideas from the graduates received starter packages to support their implementation, further encouraging practical application and business growth.
Implemented under the Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Incubation Centre (EIIC) at MUBS, EDEW 2025 continues to advance the Institution’s mission of fostering inclusive entrepreneurship and bridging the gender gap in business and technology. The successful completion of this program highlights the power of targeted skills development in shaping the future of young women across Uganda, promoting self-reliance, innovation, and economic empowerment.
