Mbale Campus staff have been urged to embrace collaboration, accountability, and capacity building as key strategies for winning grants. This was during monthly research workshop series aimed at empowering academic staff with critical skills in grant proposal writing and research, held on November 14, 2024, The workshop was organized by the Research Coordinator, Mr. Faisal Mubuke, a Lecturer in the Department of Marketing and
Management and supported by the Office of the Campus Chief. The initiative seeks to build robust research capacity within the institution. In her opening remarks, the Ag. Campus Chief Mrs. Faith GK Lutale, encouraged academic staff to engage fully in these sessions, highlighting the Campus’s key role as a knowledge hub in the country and in the eastern region. She underscored the value of drawing diverse expertise from different sectors to enhance competitiveness and innovation. “Working alone should stop, let us prioritize teamwork and include diverse expertise in grant writing,” she said, adding that partnerships with external stakeholders, including government institutions and private sector players, were critical to winning grants.

She expressed the need for the campus to encourage co-publications and to how to increase and improve graduated training and completion rates.
The facilitators who included; Dr. Joshua Gukiina, from Jinja Campus, Dr. Noah Mwelu Head of Marketing and Management Jinja Campus, and Dr. Yusuf Ndawula Katerega a Lecturer in the Accounting and Finance Department provided valuable insights into successful grant application strategies. With monthly workshops planned, these series will serve as a continuous learning platform, strengthening research initiatives and fostering academic growth at MUBS-Mbale Campus
