Prof. Moses Muhwezi, the Principal of Makerere University Business School (MUBS), participated in the opening ceremony of the 4th NORHED Energy Economics Boot-camp held in Tanzania.

The program aims to strengthen research and teaching capacity in areas critical to energy policy and sustainable development across the region.
MUBS graduate students and academic staff are actively engaged in this collaborative effort, reflecting the School’s commitment to academic excellence, regional collaboration, and sustainable energy solutions. The bootcamp also provides a platform for networking, capacity building, and joint research among partner institutions in East Africa and beyond. “This initiative offers our students and staff a unique opportunity to deepen their knowledge, engage in practical research, and contribute meaningfully to the global energy transition,” Prof. Muhwezi remarked during the opening ceremony. The continued involvement of MUBS in such programs underscores its strategic focus on research-led education and regional development partnerships.
Makerere University Business School has since 2016 been supported by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperat ion (NORAD), under the Norwegian Programme for Capacity- Building in Higher Education and Research for Development project (NORHED I) to grow capacity in energy economics and governance.
In collaboration with the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU), MUBS has been able to establish and run the PhD and Masters academic programme in energy economics and governance.
The University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania joined the NMBU-MUBS partnership, with a focus on capacity building in energy economics and governance under the NORHED II.
