September 13, 2025 — Makerere University Business School (MUBS) has issued a stern warning to students against any form of examination malpractice as Coursework One Tests for Semester One of the 2025/2026 academic year began on September 13.

The Acting School Registrar, Dr. Massy Nabasirye, emphasized that cheating during university assessments is a serious academic offence that may lead to severe disciplinary actions, including expulsion. “Cheating is an offence that undermines the integrity of the academic process. Students found engaging in such behaviour risk being expelled from the University,” Dr. Nabasirye said.

She defined cheating as any illegitimate action intended to deceive examiners. This includes possession or use of unauthorized books, notes, or materials during exams; writing notes on the body or personal belongings; having notes on identification documents or authorized materials such as logarithm tables; using electronic devices to access information; copying from other candidates or assisting others to cheat; impersonating another candidate; any behaviour deemed by invigilators to unfairly affect other candidates’ performance; and obtaining examination papers before their official release.

Students have been urged to uphold academic honesty and integrity to protect their education and the reputation of MUBS.
