As examinations officially begin on November 17, 2025, across all Makerere University Business School (MUBS) campuses, I feel compelled, as your editor, to share a message of encouragement, clarity and purpose with every student stepping into this important academic season.
This period marks the culmination of your hard work, and the MUBS community extends its best wishes to you as you demonstrate the knowledge and skills gained throughout the semester.
Examinations are often surrounded by whispers of fear, panic , anxiety, and emotions every student has felt at one point. But let me remind you: examinations are not designed to break you. They are a platform to prove your growth, a moment to reflect the effort you have invested throughout the semester. With proper preparation, steady focus and a calm mind, each one of you has the capacity to excel.
I therefore urge you be confident. Start your mornings with intention, review your notes thoughtfully and believe in your ability to rise to the challenge. Remember, preparation is the strongest shield against fear. The more you prepare, the more empowered you become.
As you sit for each paper, please remember to follow university examination guidelines. Ensure you arrive at the examination room at least 30 minutes early, carry your student ID, examination permit and verify your venue as indicated on the timetable. These simple steps help you settle in smoothly and reduce unnecessary stress. At the same time, I must emphasize an important truth: integrity is non-negotiable. Examination malpractice, whether cheating, impersonation or possession of unauthorized materials, carries serious consequences including possible suspension from the university if found guilty of the offence. No examination is worth sacrificing your future, your reputation or the values that define who you are. Choose honesty, even when the pressure is high.
For students who may feel overwhelmed, please remember that students’ counselors are available to guide you. Make use of reading spaces, group discussions and the quiet zones across campus to stay organized and focused.
Let this examination period be a testament to your resilience, discipline and character. As you prepare, take a moment to pray or seek guidance from God, drawing strength and focus for the challenges ahead. Walk into every examination room with your head held high, knowing you have done your part. You are capable, you are prepared, and you are stronger than the doubts that try to distract you.
From all of us in the Publications Unit, we believe in you. MUBS remains committed to supporting you throughout this examination period. May your hard work shine brightly, and may this season open doors to even greater success. Go into these examinations with courage, integrity and unwavering faith in yourself.
