The Department of Human Resource Management under the Faculty of Management at Makerere University Business School (MUBS) held a Campus to Career (C2C) session on October 23, 2025, aimed at preparing Human Resource students for corporate life.
The training, organized in partnership with ITM Uganda, focused on equipping students with practical knowledge and skills essential for success in the professional world. In his opening remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Management, Dr. Joshua Mugambwa, commended the Department for organizing initiatives that build students’ capacity and enhance employability.
He urged students to embrace continuous learning and innovation, noting that soft skills are key to career success. “Take time to learn and always attend these activities to add value to your capacity. The world is changing too fast our students must be innovative, adaptable, and open to learning,” he advised. The session provided students with practical guidance on transitioning from academic life to the workplace. Topics included career planning, interview preparation, workplace expectations, and professional development, offering participants valuable insights into navigating the job market.
The Managing Director of ITM Uganda, Ms. Asha Kalanzi, encouraged students to broaden their knowledge beyond traditional HR roles, emphasizing the importance of versatility in today’s dynamic work environment. “It is important to know about other fields on top of the HR field,” she said, highlighting the benefits of cross-disciplinary knowledge.
The Head of the Department of Human Resource Management, Dr. Phiona Mulira, appreciated MUBS Management for fostering partnerships that expose students to practical learning opportunities. She noted that such collaborations provide skills often not covered in the classroom. The President of the MUBS Human Resource Management Students’ Association, Mr. Nicholas said the training inspired students to become better professionals and urged his colleagues to be impactful and purpose-driven.
