“The purpose of education is not only personal growth but also to give back to society. As alumni, you have a duty to support MUBS and the communities that shaped you. Forgetting your roots is a sin. Always return to give back and make a difference,”

Prof. Moses Muhwezi,

September 28, 2025 – Prof. Moses Muhwezi, Principal of Makerere University Business School (MUBS), pledged UGX 10 million toward the construction of the newly launched MUBS Mbarara Campus Block during the 3rd Alumni Anniversary/Dinner at Les Vegas Hotel in Mbarara.

The event, themed “Lighting the Western Star: Celebrating MUBS Mbarara Campus Since 2006,” celebrated the campus’s journey since its establishment. Prof. Muhwezi lauded the alumni for their continued support and urged them to give back to their alma mater and communities. He emphasized the importance of education not just for personal growth, but for societal contribution. In addition to his personal pledge, he announced that the MUBS Council and Management would allocate further funds through the School Bursar’s office to support the project. Highlighting MUBS’ forward-looking programs, the Principal revealed government requests for new Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in Cooperatives, aimed at strengthening SACCOs with well-qualified personnel. The ceremony included the symbolic signing of the artistic impression of the new Alumni Block by Prof. Muhwezi and Mr. Patrick Onen Ezaga, marking the start of this transformative project.
