September 28, 2025 – MUBS Mbarara Regional Campus marked a historic milestone with its 3rd Alumni Dinner, held at Les Vegas Hotel.
The colorful event, themed “Lighting the Western Star: Celebrating MUBS Mbarara since 2006,” brought together alumni, staff, and key stakeholders to celebrate the Campus’s inspiring journey from humble beginnings to becoming a thriving regional center of excellence in business and management education.
The evening opened with a heartfelt tribute to the visionaries behind MUBS, including His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the then Minister of Education Rt. Hon. Amanya Mushega, and the founding Principal and management team. Their pioneering efforts in 1997 laid the strong foundation on which MUBS continues to build its success story.
Assoc. Prof. Richard Akisimire, the Campus Chief, reflected on the Campus’ remarkable growth. He recalled that when MUBS Mbarara began in 2006, it had only 61 students, four Teaching Assistants, One Administrator, and one Security staff a total of just six employees.
Today, the Campus is home to more than 1,200 students and 106 staff members, including three Professors, four Senior Lecturers, eight PhD holders, and ten PhD students, alongside 38 administrative and support staff. “
The remarkable progress of MUBS Mbarara Regional Campus is a harvest of the bold choices made by the founders and pioneers,” Assoc. Prof. Akisimire remarked. “Our continued success depends on teamwork, commitment, and the invaluable support of our alumni.”
