Makerere University Business School (MUBS) Student Leaders actively participated in the Afro-Arab Youth Congress 2025, held from October 7–10 at Speke Resort, Munyonyo. The Congress, themed “Amplifying Youth Voices for Peace, Unity, and Prosperity,” brought together hundreds of youth leaders, diplomats, policymakers, and innovators from Africa and the Arab world to discuss strategies for peacebuilding, economic cooperation, and youth empowerment.

During the opening ceremony, Uganda’s Third Deputy Prime Minister, Hon. Rukia Nakadama, representing Vice President Hon. Jessica Alupo, praised young leaders for their increasing influence in shaping national and international policy. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni also addressed participants, urging African and Arab youth to unite around innovation, shared development goals, and common ideals.

The MUBS delegation included Guild President H.E. Rose Nabwire, Vice President H.E. Pius Mugwanya, Prime Minister Hon. Bonita Chelangat, Minister for Foreign Affairs Hon. Emmanuel Ayernor Dei-Anakwah, and Minister for Social Affairs, Culture, and Entertainment Hon. Grace Apeduno. The group actively participated in discussions on youth inclusion, sustainable development, innovation, and intercultural dialogue, demonstrating MUBS’ commitment to global engagement and leadership excellence.

The Congress also launched a fundraising drive for the Afro-Arab Youth Council (AAYC) International Headquarters, to be constructed in Nakawuka, Wakiso District a milestone project aimed at strengthening youth collaboration across Africa and the Arab world. Reflecting on the experience, Hon. Emmanuel Ayernor Dei- Anakwah, a Ghanaian international student at MUBS, said: “This Congress reaffirmed the importance of placing young people at the forefront of international dialogue and decision-making. It reminded us that our generation must lead in advancing peace, unity, and shared prosperity. The knowledge and networks gained will continue to benefit both MUBS and Uganda in shaping globally conscious leaders.”

The participation of MUBS student leaders reinforced the School’s mission to develop globally minded leaders capable of driving positive change through collaboration, innovation, and cross-cultural engagement.
