MUBS Disability Sports team celebrates their victory at the 2025 Annual Disability Sports Gala in Masaka

Masaka, 2025 – Makerere University Business School (MUBS) has been crowned Best University at the 2025 Annual Disability Sports Gala, held at Muteesa I Royal University. The five-day event brought together universities from across Uganda to showcase the talent and determination of students with disabilities.

MUBS dominated the competition with a remarkable 102 points, ahead of Gulu University (79 points), Makerere University (56 points), and Kyambogo University (49 points). “This victory is a testament to the talent, hard work, and spirit of our students, with disabilities, they continue to inspire us every day, and MUBS remains committed to fostering inclusivity and excellence in all areas.” The team excelled across athletics, ball games, combat sports, and archery. Star performers included Jimmy Innocent (400m), Joy Chebet and Ba sham Ali (shot put), Daisy Denise (100m & 400m), Fred Lubangkene (100m), and Bruno Wandera (archery).

“This achievement is not just about winning medals,” said Guild President Kiguli Allan. “Our students showed incredible resilience and teamwork, demonstrating what can be achieved when given the right support.”

The win underscores the university’s commitment to empowering all students and promoting equal opportunities in athletics.

The team looks forward to defending its title next year, while inspiring other universities to invest in disability sports programs. Special thanks go to the Principal, Dean of Students, Director of the Disability Centre and staff, coaches, Guild leadership, and all students who made this achievement possible.
