Dr. Rachel Mindra Katoroogo, Dean Faculty of Commerce

Dress decently, keep time, stay in your tents until the convocation is dissolved and to maintain silence during the time of speeches and while your names are being read.

I wish to congratulate and thank you all for not shaming your lecturers and parents because you did exactly what you were sent to do at the university and I request you to exhibit high levels of discipline so that you can leave a good memory on the graduation day on February 1, 2024, noted the Dean Faculty of Commerce Dr. Rachel Mindra Katoroogo while addressing the Bachelor of commerce, Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Bachelor of Science in Finance and Bachelor of Real Estate management graduands at the Faculty of Commerce graduation briefing that took place on January 22, 2024 online. The Deputy Dean of Faculty of Commerce Assoc. Prof. Irene Nalukenge noted that the purpose of the briefing was to ensure that the graduation day goes on well and smoothly without surprise behavior and we are in press for good reasons. She encouraged the graduands to adhere to the guidelines given to them and requested them to share with there colleagues this important information. Prof Vincent Bagire, Dean Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research and the MUBS representative on the Makerere University Ceremony Committee noted that passing exam is peaceful and a graduation day is a spectacular event therefore it is imperative that the graduands are informed of what is expected of them. He examined the graduation dates of the whole graduation week and made it clear that MUBS will be graduating on Thursday February 1,2024 but not any other day for the participants not to schedule any other thing because the day can not be multi-tasked. Prof Bagire encouraged the graduands to make sure that they pick their graduation gowns, clear graduation fees, pick their invitation cards, among others before graduation to avoid confusion on the day of graduation. He further urged them to go along with only two guests as requested, sit on the sits on which their names are written, park in the designated parking, not to use the main gate since it will out of use for graduands that day. Prof. Bagire also cautioned the graduands to dress decently, keep time, stay in their tents until the convocation is dissolved and to maintain silence during the time of speeches and while their names are being read.
