On March 28, 2024, the Department of Finance, in the Faculty of Commerce organized a Grant Writing Training at MUBS Main campus and in her opening remarks, the Faculty Dean, Assoc. Prof. Rachel Mindra Katoroogo appreciated the Ag. Head of the Department of Finance Dr. Eva Mpaata for being proactive in organizing such developmental trainings for the staff.

She also appreciated the Dean Faculty of Procurement and Logistics Management Assoc. Prof. Sheila Namagembe for the partnership between her Faculty and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology from which the Department of Finance benefited.
She encouraged the staff to listen, learn and practice what they have been taught for their personal development and MUBS at large. “Take advantage of the opportunities that come around and pass on the knowledge to others for a multiplier effect”. she added
Assoc. Prof. Mindra appreciated Dr. Koffi Ellis Akwaa-Sekyi,for his time and energy to enable the staff learn, unlearn and relearn some aspects in grant proposal writing. Dr. Koffi is a Visiting Professor and lead trainer from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. Dr. Koffi defined a research grant proposal as an action plan used to accomplish the research objectives. It is a sales document that describes a balance between an investment and a return on Investment. He gave an over view of the attributes of a research grant and emphasised that it must always, entice, interest, be clear and persuasive to excite the funders.
Dr. Koffi encouraged staff to exercise resilience and embrace rejection of the proposal because it is part of the game. He further shared the principles of selecting the funders, ownership of ones’ work, review of the call and the process of applying. “Always stick to the template and instructions on the call including document formatting.” he added
