The students’ Guild led by the Guild President HE. Christopher Wasswa had a benchmarking visit to Mount Kenya University, to gain insights into the best practices, strategies, organization and explore avenues for potential collaborations and knowledge sharing. The five day visit begun on February 03, and ended on February 08, 2024. The visit provided an opportunity for students’ leaders to broaden their horizons, and immerse themselves in a new academic environment and leadership. The Guild Information Minister Ms. Mabel Beinomugisha, narrates the journey to the new foreign land. Arrival and Acclimatization: Stepping onto foreign soil, we where greeted by a whirlwind of sights, sounds, and sensations all through from Eldoret to Thika. Navigating unfamiliar streets and adapting to a new rhythm of life tested resilience and resourcefulness. Yet, every challenge presented an opportunity for growth  and adaptability. Academic Immersion: Enrolling in courses at the host university proved both intellectually stimulating and culturally enlightening. Interacting with administrators and guild leaders from diverse backgrounds enriched discussions and broadened perspectives. The academic rigor at the great institution challenged us to think critically and approach problems from new angles, fostering a deeper understanding of our leadership experience. Cultural Exchange: Beyond the classroom, cultural exchange flourished. Engaging with local traditions, cuisine, and festivities around Thika, Nairobi, and other places offered glimpses into the host country’s heritage and values. Building friendships with fellow students from Kenya created a global network of connections and fostered mutual understanding. The most outstanding student engagement on the journey was the Climate change quiz competition where they would ask random questions about climate and they rewarded whoever answered most of the answers correctly. Exploration and Adventure: Exploring the Kenya’s landmarks, landscapes, and hidden gems was mind blowing and breathe taking. It transformed our trip into an adventure. From bustling cities to tranquil countryside retreats, each destination offered insights into the Kenya’s geography, and way of life. Every excursion was an opportunity to learn, grow, and create lasting memories. As we bid adieu to our temporary home, we carried with us not only knowledge gained but also a newfound appreciation for the interconnectedness of our continent and the limitless opportunities that await those willing to explore beyond familiar shores.
