Hon. Rebecca  Kadaga being welcomed at Pit Sport Grounds in Jinja

The first Prime minister who is also the Minister of East African Affairs Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga, has called on Ugandan Universities to teach more foreign languages so that their graduates can favorably compete for international jobs.

Rt. Hon. Kadaga emphasized the  importance of MUBS focusing on international languages in her Keynote Address at the MUBS 15th Annual Hospitality Day held  at Pit Sport Grounds in Jinja on April 5, 2024.  She urged MUBS Management  to enhance the marketability of international languages within and beyond East Africa.  She noted that the Hospitality Day is particularly significant for the tourism industry as it allows
stakeholders to observe the practical application of classroom learning, ultimately contributing to the improvement of the hospitality sector.
Hon. Kadaga encouraged all MUBS lecturers and institutions offering tourism courses to collaborate with hotels and travel companies to provide staff training programs. These programs should emphasize excellent service delivery and effective handling of tourists, aiming to position Uganda as a premier tourist destination in Africa and globally.
Assoc. Prof. Sam Otengei, Head of the Department of Leisure and Hospitality Management, highlighted the significant role of the hospitality sector, which employs approximately 85% of the labor force in the tourism industry.
