The Makerere University Business School (MUBS) Council, chaired by Ms Olive Birungi Lumonya, has approved a 100% tuition waiver for the biological and legally adopted children of permanently employed staff, underscoring the School’s commitment to staff welfare and long-term motivation.
The decision, adopted at the 67th Council Meeting held on Wednesday, 15 October 2025, arose from revisions to the MUBS Human Resources Manual (2009; amended 2024) under the Biological/Legally-Adopted Children’s Scheme. Previously, the School met 50% of tuition costs. Under the new scheme, MUBS will fully cover tuition for eligible staff members’ children pursuing studies at Makerere University or Makerere University Business School, while staff continue to meet the applicable functional fees in line with the HR Manual.
“This is a remarkable gesture of appreciation for the dedication and service of our staff. By fully supporting the education of their children, we invested in our people and in the future of education,”
