In a landmark meeting held on Thursday March 28, 2024, Makerere University Business School, (MUBS) and the University of Kolwezi, DRC laid the foundation for a robust partnership that promises to transform the landscape of higher education and research in Africa.
The discussions, led by Prof. Joseph Ntayi and his counterpart, Prof. Elie José Tambwe, have culminated in a mutual agreement to collaborate in areas crucial for both Institutions and their wider communities.
Focused Areas of Cooperation Doctoral Training for Staff: Recognizing the need for advanced research skills and knowledge, Makerere University Business School has committed to providing doctoral training to the scientific staff of the University of Kolwezi.

Establishment of a Research Center: Both universities have agreed to collaborate on establishing a pioneer research center at the University of Kolwezi, DRC dedicated to sustainable development, green economy, mining economics and management, among others.

This initiative is particularly keen given University of Kolwezi’s close involvement with mining communities and their environmental impact.
The research center will serve as a hub for innovative solutions and sustainable practices in mining and related sectors.
Mutual Internship Opportunities: The partnership will also facilitate mutual internship opportunities for undergraduate and master’s students in both Kampala and the University of Kolwezi.
This exchange is designed to provide students with practical experience and exposure to different cultural and professional environments, enhancing their readiness for the global workforce.
