The MUBS Innovation and Incubation Centre (MUBS EIIC) conducted a Rapid Farmer Capacity building assessment in partnership with the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) in Isingiro and Kiryandongo on the DRDP (Development Response to Displacement Impact Project). DRDIP is a Government Project under the Office of the Prime Minister that provides development and direct income support to vulnerable nationals and refugees within refugee hosting districts in Uganda.
The project is funded by World Bank majorly to support the 15 districts that host the refugees in Uganda.
The purpose of the rapid assessment survey was to determine farmer group capacity building gaps in Isingiro and Kiryandongo districts.
The results of the rapid assessment survey enabled MUBS to ascertain the right training needs for the participants in Kiryandongo and Isingiro districts. The assessment also identified other capacity needs such as tools, processes, plans and structures necessary to improve productivity. The resultant curriculum and training is expected to facilitate the transformation of farming groups into strong agricultural enterprises. The activity took place between May 6-9, 2024 in the two (2) districts.
DRDIP is intended to improve access to basic social services, expand economic opportunities and enhance environmental management in refugee hosting districts.
