Makerere University Business School (MUBS) on 20 November 2025 welcomed a high-level delegation from the University of Nottingham (UoN) for strategic discussions aimed at strengthening academic and research cooperation.
The visit reaffirmed MUBS’ commitment to expanding international partnerships that create meaningful opportunities for its staff and students. The UoN delegation included Prof. Neil Mansfield, Executive Dean for Research and International Reputation; Prof. Mazeda Hossain, Director of the Eastern Africa Centre; and Prof. Linda Gibson, who leads the Nottingham Trent University (NTU)–MUBS partnership.
They were officially received by MUBS Principal, Prof. Moses Muhwezi, and Acting Deputy Principal, Assoc. Prof. Rachel Mindra Katoroogo.
The meeting focused on strengthening ongoing and emerging initiatives in teaching, research, innovation, competence-based learning, and community engagement.
Prof. Muhwezi highlighted the importance of the partnership, saying: “Our collaboration with the University of Nottingham and NTU not only fosters impactful research and knowledge exchange but also creates greater opportunities for our staff and students. Through this partnership, we can drive innovation and make a meaningful contribution to both regional and global development.” Prof. Neil Mansfield emphasized the importance of international collaboration, noting that cross-border partnerships are crucial for addressing complex challenges in research and education. He added that the engagement with MUBS will strengthens both institutions while creating valuable opportunities for their academic communities.
The visit further reinforces MUBS’ dedication to international collaboration, research excellence, competence-based learning, and the delivery of a transformative educational experience.
