MUBS Jinja Campus officially welcomed its first-year students during a comprehensive orientation program held from August 4 to 8, 2025. The week-long event aimed to introduce freshers to university life, academic expectations, and student support services, while emphasizing the importance of discipline, personal responsibility, and academic excellence. Dr. Noah Mwelu, Chief, MUBS Jinja Campus, opened the event by encouraging students to make wise choices and avoid destructive behavior such as drug abuse, noting that such habits can derail one’s future and negatively affect others. “I take this opportunity to welcome you, our dear students, to MUBS in general and to Jinja Campus in particular. The choice you made is the right one,” Dr. Mwelu said. “Avoid comparing yourselves to others. Live within your means. Each of you is special and important in your own way.”
Dr. Joshua Gukiina, Head of the Department of Marketing and Management, also welcomed the freshers and urged them to protect the reputation of MUBS. He stressed the need for commitment from the start and encouraged students to address their concerns through the appropriate university offices. Dr. Moses Kisubi, Head of the Department of Accounting and Finance, emphasized the importance of decent dressing, mutual respect, and academic discipline. He reminded students to complete at least two coursework assignments before final exams and to maintain a minimum of 75% class attendance in order to qualify for examinations.
“Know the reason you are here, study hard, form discussion groups, respect your lecturers, leaders, and colleagues, and avoid negative peer influence,”
Rt. Hon. Ruth Ajambo, the Prime Minister of MUBS Jinja Campus, encouraged students to remain focused on their academic goals and to make the most of their time at the university. “Know the reason you are here, study hard, form discussion groups, respect your lecturers, leaders, and colleagues, and avoid negative peer influence,” she advised. “
As Prime Minister, I am honored to welcome you. Feel at home and consult Guild Ministers whenever you need guidance.” Mr. Emmanuel Barasa, the Campus Registrar, provided a detailed briefing on the registration process and outlined the required documentation.
