On August 17, 2025, Staff and students from Makerere University Business School (MUBS), led by the Principal Prof. Moses Muhwezi, proudly joined colleagues from Makerere University and other partners in the 2025 Makerere Marathon (Mak-Run 2025), held at Makerere University’s iconic Freedom Square.

Organized by the Makerere University Endowment Fund (MAKEF) under the theme “Run the Hills for the Future,” the marathon brought together over 200,000 participants from across Uganda and beyond. The event sought to raise funds to equip the University’s Disability Support Unit and establish a sustainable financial pool to support economically disadvantaged students.

The marathon was officially led by Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe, Vice-Chancellor of Makerere University. In his address, Prof. Nawangwe commended the overwhelming turnout and reaffirmed the University’s commitment to inclusion and support for all students. “This marathon is more than a race; it is a statement of our values as a University,” Prof. Nawangwe remarked. “We must continue working together to build an inclusive and supportive academic environment for everyone.”

Speaking on behalf of MUBS, Prof. Muhwezi expressed pride in MUBS’ participation and reaffirmed the School’s commitment to the cause. “At MUBS, we believe that supporting Persons With Disabilities is a cause worth championing,” Prof. Muhwezi stated. “We pledge to remain committed to this noble initiative and continue empowering all learners regardless of their circumstances.”

He also thanked MUBS staff and students for their enthusiastic participation and dedication to advancing social equity through education.
