First year students during orientation
MUBS Mbale Campus came alive with excitement on August 5th and 6th, 2025, as it warmly welcomed first-year students during a two-day orientation program. The event introduced the new students to university life, academic expectations, and the many opportunities available at MUBS.
The orientation commenced on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, with a virtual keynote address by the Principal, Prof. Moses Muhwezi. His message was both inspiring and empowering. He encouraged the new students to “Uphold the Pride of MUBS’ through discipline and purpose, and reassured them of the institution’s unwavering commitment to equality, dignity, and non-discrimination. Prof. Muhwezi also emphasized MUBS’s zero-tolerance policy on sexual harassment, affirming the university’s dedication to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all.
Hon. Osire Isaac, the Campus Guild Prime Minister, delivered a motivating speech on self-leadership and academic focus, followed by a campus tour for freshers. Meanwhile, Ms. Nekesa Justine, the Campus Dean of Students, coordinated a mini-exhibition where leading banks introduced students to financial services, emphasizing early financial literacy and responsible money management.
The second day of orientation, held on Wednesday, August 6th, 2025, featured a keynote address by the Campus Chief, Mrs. Kadoondi Faith Gabona Lutale. She warmly congratulated the new students on their admission to both Makerere University and MUBS, and expressed gratitude for their choice to join the Mbale Campus. In her address, Mrs. Lutale emphasized the importance of academic commitment, highlighting discipline, humility, and consistent effort as the foundation for success.

Department Heads later addressed the students, outlining academic expectations and the support systems available. They delivered a unifying and encouraging message: “You are beginning your journey with the potential to graduate with first-class honors.” Students were urged to maintain high academic standards through consistent reading, research, and active participation in scholarly discussions. The lecturers reassured the students of their ongoing support throughout their academic programs.
