MUBS Principal Launches ARUA Campus Faculty Board and Engages Local Leaders on New Campus Plans In a significant step towards strengthening governance and operational efficiency at its regional campus, Prof. Moses Muhwezi, Principal of Makerere University Business School (MUBS), officially launched the MUBS ARUA Campus Board on June 27, 2025. The new board, designed to function similarly to a Faculty Board, aims to enhance management of both students and staff, fostering a more productive and harmonious academic environment.

The launch event was held at the ARUA campus, where Prof. Muhwezi also held constructive discussions with key local government leaders, including the Arua District LC5 Chairman, Vice Chairman, and Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). The focus of these talks was the planned relocation of MUBS to a new site within the district, an initiative expected to improve accessibility and support future growth.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Muhwezi highlighted the urgent national demand for education that is relevant to Uganda’s development needs. “There is an outcry in the country for relevant education.

As a business school, we need to take the lead by aligning what we teach to what the country requires,” he said.

The formation of the ARUA Campus Board is part of MUBS’ broader strategy to decentralize academic governance, ensuring that regional campuses operate efficiently and respond effectively to the needs of their communities. Local leaders expressed optimism about the collaboration, recognizing the potential of MUBS’ expanded presence to contribute to socio-economic development in the region.

The Principal’s visit and engagement with district officials underscore MUBS’ commitment to forging strong partnerships that support academic excellence, regional development, and the delivery of quality, relevant education across Uganda
