First year students listening to the Principal’s address during their Orientation at MUBS Main campus, Nakawa

Makerere University Business School (MUBS) Principal, Prof. Moses Muhwezi, officially welcomed first-year students during the freshers’ orientation held on August 5, 2025 at the MUBS Main Campus in Nakawa. He congratulated the new students and urged them to approach their academic journey with discipline, responsibility, and a commitment to personal growth.

He congratulated them upon joining MUBS. “We pray that you not only acquire knowledge and practical skills but also develop the wisdom to become responsible citizens of Uganda,” Prof. Muhwezi said.

He reminded students that while MUBS does not enforce a specific dress code, they are expected to dress decently and respect university regulations.

Prof. Muhwezi urged students to understand the academic and behavioral rules to prevent disciplinary issues and reaffirmed MUBS’s commitment to equality, dignity, and non-discrimination, stressing a zero-tolerance policy on sexual harassment and abuse.

The Principal cautioned students against harmful distractions like drug abuse and early pregnancies, encouraging them to focus on positive activism and critical thinking.

He emphasized responsible behavior, academic commitment, and care for university resources, urging students to support MUBS’s mission.

He assured them of the university’s full support in their academic journey. The orientation, attended by hundreds of new students, marked the official start of the academic year 25/26 and aimed to ease their transition into university life.
