Speaking at the launch of Science, Technology and Innovation week at MUBS Main Campus, Nakawa SP Godfrey Ssebagala from the Directorate of ICT, Uganda Police Forces, (UPF) has called upon IT students to join the forces. “I would like to encourage more young IT professionals from MUBS to join the force and contribute to the digitization process.”
The Science, Technology and Innovation week was organized by students of Computing under their umbrella Association, SICA in partnership with the Faculty of Computing and Informatics on Friday April 5, 2024 at MUBS Main Campus, where students showcased their various
innovations.
As the world moves deep into the fourth industrial revolution, Science and Technology has taken on the fundamental role of wealth creation, improvement of the quality of life and real economic growth and transformation.

Mr. Ssebagala was making a systems’ under Uganda Police Force. He said, through innovation, UPF has automated a number of processes in-house. The Certificate of Good Conduct and Express Penalty Scheme are some of the systems that have been developed in-house.
“I was happy when I reached here and found the different students’ innovations, in the trend of technology, you are on the right track I applaud you for coming up with such programs where the young generations can showcase their innovative talents. Continue with such innovations for they are in the right direction since the country is mainly focusing on Science and Technology.” he added
He encouraged the students to join the Uganda Police for there many opportunities and invited the Dean Faculty of Computing and Informatics, Assoc.Prof. Sonny Nyeko and the students to visit the Uganda Police ICT Centre for study tours.

Meanwhile, Assoc. Prof. Sonny Nyeko encouraged the students to continue with the innovations and the Staff to continue supporting and guiding the students. “As a Faculty, these innovations should not just end  here we should showcase them at the 28th Annual International Management Conference 2024’’. he said.
Meanwhile, Dr. John Paul Kasse, Head of Department Information Systems said since the focus of the country is on science, the faculty had to come up with this science week and it will be annual.
