Prof. Moses Muhwezi, MUBS Ag. Principal together with MUBS Staff and Staff from Eduserv, ECASA and HOGMAU

On Monday, May 20, 2024, the Faculty of Tourism, Hospitality, and Languages at Makerere University Business School (MUBS) signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Eduserv Education Agency. The MOU aims to establish a framework for student traineeship programs in Asia, Europe, and the USA, providing students with practical training opportunities.
The Ag. Principal, Prof. Moses Muhwezi, signed on behalf of MUBS, while Eduserv was represented by Mrs. Fadhida Saad
The Dean of the Faculty of Tourism, Hospitality, and Languages, Assoc. Prof. Milburga Atcero, expressed sincere gratitude to Eduserv for partnering with MUBS. She noted that this collaboration opens doors to enriching educational experiences,  global networking opportunities, and enhanced professional development  for hospitality students.

Mrs. Fadhida Saad from Eduserv highlighted that hospitality students will have access to global internship placements and training programs coordinated by the agency, and she looks forward to a fruitful collaboration.
On the same day, MUBS through Faculty of Tourism, Hospitality, and Languages signed another Memorandum of Understanding with the Eastern, Central and Southern Africa (ECASA) group of consultants at the Main Campus in Nakawa.

This collaboration, overseen by the Faculty of Tourism, Hospitality, and Languages, aims to equip students and staff with skills to read, write, and communicate effectively in Swahili.
The MOU promotes the teaching of modern Swahili across public and private institutions in Uganda.
Prof. Muhwezi emphasized the importance of the Swahili language for people in the East African region and requested the Dean, Assoc. Prof. Milburga Atcero, to ensure that security personnel at MUBS are trained in Swahili. Assoc. Prof. Atcero pledged to achieve the best results.
Additionally, on Friday, May 24, 2024, MUBS, through the Faculty of Tourism, Hospitality, and Languages, signed a sixyear Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Hotel General Managers Association (HOGMAU).

The two institutions will collaborate on policy generation, the promotion of home-grown hotel franchises, and the development of sustainable hotel management contract models.
The MOU also aims to improve service delivery in the hotel industry in Uganda at both local and international levels. The Acting Principal, Prof. Muhwezi, underscored the importance of partnering with practitioners to close the skills gap and collectively transform the hospitality industry into a  competitive brand throughout Uganda.  He encouraged both parties to work closely together to implement the objectives of the MOU.
Prof. Muhwezi signed on behalf of  MUBS, while Ms. Molly Apio, the Chairperson of HOGMAU, signed on behalf of the Hotel General Managers Association.
