Faculty of Marketing and International Business hosted a Guest Lecture on “Leading High- Impact Sales Teams in the Digital Era” for second-year Marketing and Media Studies students on October 30, 2025, at the MUBS main campus.

The session featured Mr. Moses Rutahigwa, Director of Retail and Business Banking at ABSA Bank Uganda, who highlighted the unprecedented pace of human transformation over the last two decades.

“As Peter Diamandis and Steven Kotler wrote; The Future Is Faster Than You Think, we are heading to a time where AI will make the majority of our buying decisions, continually surprising us with products or services we didn’t even know we wanted. How we design solutions, sell, connect, and lead in this era has to be different,” he noted.

Mr. Rutahigwa emphasized that modern sales leaders must leverage technology and data to understand customers better, lead with empathy, and build genuine relationships with clients and teams. “I am delighted to be back at MUBS, a place that shaped my career and where I spent three memorable years.

I am impressed with the students’ eagerness to learn and their thoughtful questions about the future of sales and leadership. Your energy reaffirms my belief that the future of business is in capable and forward-thinking hands. I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to their learning journey and share lessons from the field.”

Mr. Daniel Komunda, Head of Marketing, Brands at Next Media, also addressed students, emphasizing the importance of brand identity: “Beyond the product, logo, and taglines, there is feeling, representation, and identity. This is what truly connects brands to people.”

The lecture engaged students through a lively Q&A session, where they discussed AI-driven sales strategies, hybrid team management, and the role of empathy in leadership. The event was attended by over 100 second-year Marketing and Media Studies students, giving them practical insights into modern sales leadership and digital marketing trends.

The lecture aligns with the Department’s mission to equip students with practical skills that prepare them for leadership roles in the digital age. Plans are already underway to host additional Guest Lectures this semester to further expose students to real-world industry insights.
