Mubs Faculty Administrators and Accounts Assistants were equipped with knowledge and skills on budgeting, accountability and IFMs processes to increase their knowledge on managing funds and budgets.
The one day blended Workshop which attracted over 50 participants was officially opened by the Head of the MUBS Internal Audit Directorate, Mr. George Asiimwe and facilitated by Mr. Micheal Ruhigwa, the School Bursar, Hajjati Alinda Lucy, the Deputy  Bursar and Ms. Juliet Oryema, Senior Accountant from Ministry of Finance.

The training was organized by the MUBS Internal Audit Directorate on May 9, 2024 at MUBS Main Campus Nakawa, under the theme “Collective Effort to Improve Financial Performance.”
The training highlighted the common Budgeting and accountability challenges, Delays of IFMs approvals and submission of accountability reports.

Mr. George Asiimwe, Head of the MUBS  Internal Audit Directorate, emphasized  that all Staff are accountable for processing and recording financial transactions in a timely and proper manner.
It is every ones role to be accountable for every money they receive from the School with in seven(7) days after the activity has taken place.
He observed that sometimes there has been some tendency of not following the  right accountability procedures and he highlighted the Hiccups in accountability that included; communication gaps, non execution of the activities, non  accountability culture, undertaking  activities but not accounting for them,  failure to know the accountability procedures, among others.
The School Bursar, Mr. Michael Ruhigwa  emphasized the need for realistic budgeting, attaching activity budgets on the requisitions for money, making  timely accountability and obtaining receipts. “Staff should write activity reports and attach possible evidence  and avoid forging receipts.
He also advised staff always use money for the intended purposes. Ms. Juliet Oryema, a Senior Accountant  from Ministry of Finance appreciated
Internal Audit Directorate for organizing such workshops to enlight staff on how to be accountable and urged them to always know their role in the budget planning.
She took the staff through the process of budgeting from planning to warranty for actual use Ms. Oryema advised Staff to avoid creating domestic arrears because it is a  sign of indiscipline.
