“Educating communities about environmental issues fosters a sense of responsibility and encourages collective action for positive change”; To this effective, MUBS Arua Campus Health minister together with the Guild executives, Guild Representatives to Council (GRCs) and Course leaders joined hands through their student engagement initiative to create awareness about climate change.

They organized a Sanitation Day under the theme “Protecting the Earth’s Natural Systems” on September 27, 2024, aimed at sensitizing the Arua Campus community on the importance of environmental conservation, sustainability, and climate change. The program presented an opportunity to students and staff to take the lead in activities
geared towards increasing the community’s efforts in preserving the environment which is threatened by climate
change. The Guild also planted trees at the Campus as part of their broader initiative to enhance environmental management practices, promote a culture of environmental responsibility within the university community, and
pledged to continue with more of such environmental initiatives.

Tree planting is a meaningful way for students to contribute positively to beautifying their campus, preserve the
environment and contribute towards the change they want to see and enjoy. The program also focused on four major aspects of prevention, reduction, reuse and recycling of waste to reduce waste generation at the Campus.
