MUBS Ag. Principal Prof. Moses Muhwezi has advised students to position themselves in the job market by embracing continuous learning and acquiring digital skills in addition to getting good grades.
“Also surround yourselves with the right people, you should be known by the people who make decisions, be active in the right way, do not be indisciplined because the indiscipline will follow you wherever go.”
Prof. Muhwezi was addressing students at the 2024 National Social Security Fund/Daily Monitor Career Expo held at MUBS on April 3, 2024, under the theme “Discover Your Purpose”.
He advised students to attain global professional qualifications and to participate in volunteering jobs, do field attachment and make use of their time effectively. “Get in touch with the knowledge centres so that you have information. You must keep your eyes on the horizon, choose something that excites you as long as you have interest and the ability, you should not be limited by your past mistakes, keep your mind open, because some of the jobs you will get will not be in your area of specialization, but as business school we have given you knowledge.
We shall introduce the BCOM+1 or BBA+1, meaning you come you do your degree but you add one practical skill like BCOM +plumbing , electrical installation or carpentry before you graduate.
As MUBS we have taken up the responsibility to make the students ready for the world of work, we have taught, changed the curriculum by marking all courses taught more practical and have encouraged Lecturers to use practical cases when teaching, send you for field attachment, bring in guest lectures and very soon we shall introduce one practical skill.
