A wave of entrepreneurial energy swept through Makerere University Business School (MUBS) as students gathered at the Protea Hotel Kampala for TEDx Makerere University Business School on Saturday, November 15, 2025.
The event, organized by BBA II student Matthew Ainembabazi, aimed to inspire young people to tackle youth unemployment by turning ideas into action.
The event brought together a vibrant mix of local and international speakers who shared practical strategies, personal journeys, and insights to empower students to start and grow their own ventures. The hall was alive with enthusiasm as attendees engaged with the speakers and exchanged ideas.
Ms. Serena Cavicchi, Task Team Lead of the GROW Project in Uganda, encouraged students to take the first step in entrepreneurship, emphasizing that confidence grows through action: “The key is simply to start; perfection is not required. Confidence develops as your story evolves while running the business,” she said.
Troy Sandrige, a market strategist from the USA, shared how resilience helped him overcome childhood challenges and multiple brain surgeries: “Resilience allowed me to keep moving forward despite the challenges I faced,” he reflected.
Daniella Damulira, a Makerere University Law student and co-founder of Safisha, underscored the importance of self-belief: “Even when others do not believe in you, the first step is to trust yourself and begin.”
The event highlighted how entrepreneurship can drive personal growth, societal impact, and innovation. Renowned speakers including Kimberly Bryant, Timothy Armoo, and Patrick Bitature shared insights on resilience, leadership, and the value of helping others.
