At a colorful event that took place on November 14, 2023, at Kyambogo University, Makerere University Business School, (MUBS) was among the best organizations recognized by the National Union of Disabled Persons of Uganda, (NUDIPU) for employing many Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the country and for providing an inclusive working environment for PWDs.
The awards were presented by the Minister of Disability Affairs Hon. Asamo Hellen Grace as NUDIPU marked 36 years of existence under the theme: Promotion of an inclusive environment for all: My role The Minister congratulated the organizations for their inclusiveness and support towards the people with disability. “Your contributions have the power to reshape perceptions, break barriers and transform lives. Together, we can create a society that truly values and harnesses the potential of all individuals,” she said.
The Ag. Principal Prof. Moses Muhwezi received the award on behalf of MUBS, while Other recognized firms included; Centenary Bank, Stanbic Bank, MTN Uganda, Uganda Breweries Ltd and Goal Uganda.
They were recognized for providing an inclusive workspace for PWDs and appreciated for their outstanding contribution towards promoting equity diversity and inclusion of persons
with disabilities.
There are many persons with disabilities who are qualified in different fields with the required skills and knowledge for the job market but because of the disability they are left out.
Director, MUBS Disability Resource and Learning Centre, Ms. Byomire Gorretti expressed her gratitude to the School Council and MUBS Management for the incredible opportunity provided to persons with disabilities through employment at Makerere University Business School.
