The 2nd Annual Climate Finance Conference themed under Closing the Climate Financing Gap in Africa was held. The conference brought together different stakeholders to further prospect applicable solutions for deploying and bringing into service effective climate finance. At the conference, stakeholders’ demand for climate finance mobilization to mitigate climate change effects in Africa was heard.

In his opening remarks, Hon. Songa Lawrence Biyika, MP for Ora County & Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Climate Change highlighted that “Climate change isn’t a distant threat. It is a present reality that demands immediate and collective efforts. It is already threatening to undo a number of development gains. As a result, more funding is required to meet the ever rising needs for adaptation and mitigation”.

Mr. Julius Mukunda Executive Director, CSBAG mentioned that “Through our Participatory Budget Clubs model, we engage citizens and make sure their concerns are communicated to the appropriate government stakeholders because we believe that communities have a voice.
