On Tuesday, June 11, 2024, Mr. Don Patrick, an Assistant Lecturer, Ms. Priscilla Lamwaka, and Assoc. Prof. Milburga Atcero (Dean of the Faculty of Tourism, Hospitality, and Languages), were appointed as President, Vice Secretary, and Treasurer, respectively, of the newly formed Uganda France Alumni Society.
The event was graced by the French Ambassador to Uganda, H.E. Xavier Sticker.
The Association serves as an umbrella organization that brings together individuals who have studied in France to interact, network, and create more opportunities amongst themselves.
Assoc. Prof. Atcero explained that the Association aims to reunite the alumni and find ways to grow together. Meanwhile, Vice Secretary  elect  Lamwaka stated that the Alumni Association also seeks to strengthen relationships between Uganda and France, seize employment  opportunities, and address community well-being, including environmental and climate change issues.

The Association aims to enhance people’s ability to speak French at all  levels.
Additionally, the Uganda France Alumni  Society will bridge the gap for Ugandan alumni who have studied in France and position them for opportunities in various multinational companies based in France. This will facilitate easier internship placements for those who study in France and return to Uganda. Furthermore, studying in France provides linguistic and cultural immersion that cannot be obtained locally.
The Association looks forward to participating in more Corporate Social Responsibility and outreach activities, as well as uncovering more employment and educational opportunities for Ugandans who wish to study in France.
